The One About the Blackbird by Melanie Florence

⭐Netgalley Read ⭐

Rating: ★★★★ 4 star

This is such a sweet and touching story about a boy named Jack and his grandfather, and how the love of music brings them together across generations. Jack’s grandfather teaches him how to play the guitar—one chord a day—until Jack can finally play the song about the blackbird. It's such a beautiful symbol of love, learning, and legacy.

As Jack grows up and becomes a successful musician, the song stays with him. And when he returns home years later to find his grandfather older and too weak to play, Jack plays the song for him—bringing their story full circle. I definitely teared up at the end. 🥹

This book is a lovely reminder of how the time and love our grandparents give us can stay with us forever. Whether it’s through music, stories, or simple moments together, those memories live on in us. A heartfelt read and a gentle ode to grandparents everywhere. 💛🎶
